When OhSevenDays reached out to me about styling one of their pieces from the new Spring 19′ collection, I was really excited. In even the past couple years I feel that the conversation about sustainable brands has become louder yet I continued to stand in the background. I felt like I couldn’t fully commit to cutting off the convenience of fast fashion, for some reason. As time has gone on I realize I’m not only fully capable of committing but also responsible as a consumer. I can be a small voice in a large crowd to shift the market, advocating for size inclusivity, accessibility, affordability, etc. Small steps taken can add up and amount to standards and expectations changing. That is my vow from now on, shopping with a sustainable and ethical mind.
On that note, OhSevenDays pieces are made from run-off fabric rolls, avoiding their typical fate ending in landfills. Located in Istanbul where the textile manufacturing is booming, the access to these leftover fabrics is overwhelming, allowing their mission to make an everlasting difference. Not only that these pieces are sustainable, but they’re just lovely. I had a difficult time choosing, but ending up going with the Thursday Tie Top in pale pink because its simple yet timeless.
Sometimes I have all sorts of styling visions in my head prior to having the piece, yet the best combinations come up when I’m just in my apartment having fun trying things on – which is how it should be, relaxed n’ natural. The open back with the simple adjustable tie makes this off-cut 100% linen piece stand alone. I can’t wait to rotate it all Spring and Summer long. It coincidentally paired perfectly with this thrifted pink sweater coat as well as my netted pink market bag I picked up from Wild Poppy Goods a couple years ago, yet they’re available lots of places now (and perfect for produce). More mindfulness and investing in products we can be proud of, that’s the goal.
